The PSP has seen is fair share of SRPG's from NIS America and they are about to let loose another on Sony's handheld. After the first Generation of Chaos received average reviews because of its load times, it was time to go back and prepare a sequel that fixed all the problems of the first game and it seems that NIS America and Idea Factory did just that. With the inclusion of quick load times, sharp 2D graphics, and compelling gameplay this game is looking very promising.
Features:
Enter the world of Aedips Eclispe: Generation of Chaos 2. The world within the game are split up into 3 different worlds. There is the divine, upper, and lower world. Each world has its own characters and story. This allows players to be able to play three different scenarios at once and become immersed within the separate worlds. The Lower world is the world human world. The Upper world is a land of swords and magic, so think of it as a medieval time frame. Then there’s the Divine World where it is full of angels, demons, and other mystical beings.
The Divine World is a land where Angels and Demons lived in peace until a tragedy strikes when the king of the demons is assassinated by a radical group of angels and an all out war unfolds. The demon world wants to take out the angel world and take control of the Divine world once and for all.
The Upper World is about a young knight who has entered a kingdom ruled by a ruthless ruler who takes your comrades into prison and it’s up to you to rescue them before it’s too late.
The Lower World is about a young boy who is sitting in class when his hometown is attacked by a surprise bombardment. Instead of fleeing the scene to safety he instead decides to stay back and watch the attack happen. In the end he is dragged into the events of war.
After playing through the Divine World scenario this game is definitely an improvement over the first Generation of Chaos. The game plays out like most typical Real-Time Strategy RPGs. Players will move their characters on the grid based screen and then wait for the enemy to move their characters as well. The world map has many interesting aspect in it such as terrain and the change of time. Some characters will do better at night and in a forest whereas others will do better during the day and be stronger. This creates a unique mix to the typical formula and allows you to plan your attacks a little better before just rushing into battles. If the enemy is stronger during the night you will have to take them out during the day and then worry about the remaining forces after. Players will also have the ability to change the terrain around them. So if you are on a forest based tile but your character does better without forest just change the terrain to something better suited for that character. When you customize the terrain to your characters liking they will gain more bonus points for battle. So use your environment to your advantage.
Once on the field map you will be prompted with Field Commands. Players will be able to Command, Shop, Status, Objective, Option, Save/Load, or End Turn. Command is exactly as it sounds which is simply command your troops on the field. Shop is the chance to buy or sell items right on the battle field. So if you need a new weapon to take out an enemy or if your inventory is piling up with some useless stuff get rid of it right away. The rest of the commands are basic and are self explanatory.
Features:
- 3 completely different stories
- New field effects elements to add more strategy
- Extensive job classes (Over 30)
- Addition of a fantasy setting, Sci-fi Setting, and a heaven/hell divine setting for more customization
- Battles are simplified and now easier to command your army
