Is this legend best forgotten?

Legend of the Dragon is a new PSP title based on a new television show. The game has been released on the Wii and PS2 but now its time for the game to hit the handheld scene. Legend of the Dragon tells the tale of twins that are rivals. The brother is one the side of light while the sister is on the side of darkness.
With several different gameplay options like Quest, Arcade, Survival, and multiplayer modes the game offers a lot of variety. Quest mode is the story of the game and will gradually tell the tale of the animated show. Players will first select a hero and then go through their adventure by walking around on the map. As your journey on you will go to each temple and see their guardians. Once you are in a temple and meet the guardian of the temple and you will battle them as well as many other fierce warriors along the way. After each fight your hero will gain new techniques and gain incredible strength. Once you defeat the opponent you will either gain them as a new character or be able to play in that character's side quest.
Each character can transform into an animal representing the Zodiac symbol. Once transformed into their half-beast and half-man self’s new techniques become available for the character. Some the techniques include an energy wave, energy attack, energy blasts, and Ki shields. Players will be able to activate the transformation once their characters Ki gauge is full. Once you activate the transformation you have a set amount of time to use your new powers. The higher the Ki gauge full is the more time you have to use your transformation powers. Once your Ki gauge reaches zero your character will change back into his normal human self.
The fighting system of the game is very unforgiving and hard. The game lacks a large database of combos and the game feels very slow in battle. You'll never feel like you pulled off a great combo move or anything really extraordinary while playing the game.
The game does boast a full blown multiplayer mode. There’s a Team Battle, Tag Battle, and then wireless play. In Team you and your opponent select characters and make up your team. The battles are played the same way as a standard battle. As you battle the first two characters will battle until one is defeated. Once a character is beaten they are eliminated from the team and the winner will fight the next opponent from the opposing team. The winner is the fighter whoever finishes off the characters on the opposing team.
Tag Battle has you choosing two characters to engage in combat. You can fight in either fight against one other opponent at a time or up to four players simultaneously. However, it is impossible to choose the same character twice on your team. As you battle you can switch out the characters and let them regain some energy. To switch characters you simply hit the up button on the D-pad while in the air and circle button. It’s fast and very easy. The two-player wireless play ran smoothly and was a blast to play with a friend.
Graphically the game isn't anything special for the PSP. With overall bland visuals and plain cel-shaded graphics, the game doesn't have much to impress players with. Even fans of the show will not be impressed with the animation of the game.
The game is plagued with a dull fighting system and below average graphics for a PSP title. The fighting system needs a total revamping before a sequel is made. Make sharper crisper cel-shaded graphics, more fluid battle system, some voice-actors from the show, and more moves then maybe you'll have a Legend worth telling.
