Sony is planning to rerelease a PSOne classic on the PSP, with PaRappa the Rapper. Originally released back in 1997 the game returns on the PSP for its 10th Anniversary on the PSP and its coming with some extra content as well to celebrate the occasion. PaRappa tells the tale of a young dog that happens to love a sunflower named Sunny Funny. Now to impress Sunny Funny, PaRappa will have to take on a number of skills, one of which is you guessed it rapping.

Fans of the original game will feel right at home with this PSP version. Keeping true to the original game the PSP version have all the original tracks and levels. The original PSOne title is acclaimed as one of the first music based rhythm games to hit consoles back in 1997. This title will offer players all the fun the original title brought to gamers back then but with brand new modes and content to make this party better than ever.

Players will now have the ability to have head to head rap battles. Find some friends with a PSP with another copy of the game and the battle is on. The game will allow for up to four players to play head to head wirelessly over the PSP’s Ad/Hoc connection. Also available thanks to the PSP’s wireless connection will be downloadable songs. Using the PSP’s infrastructure mode, players will able to download 8 remixes to play.

But in case remixes aren’t your thing, rest assure that the original soundtrack is fully intact. So fans of Chop Chop Master Onion and Cheap Cheap The Cooking Chicken get ready to listen to those classic beats and lyrics once again. The rest of the original roster of characters will also return like Instructor Mooselini, Mc King Kong Mushi and plenty of others. All of these classic characters will push you to your limits with the time based gameplay. Time the beats with the push of the buttons and show the world just how good of a rapper you are.

Graphically the game will keep the originals paper-like style. The game will be sharper and have upgrades over the original but it will stay true to the style from the first game. However, the game will be presented in 16:9 thanks to the PSP’s screen setup. Just in case you don’t like the widescreen setup, you can change it to a 4:3 viewing angle as well.

PaRappa is going to drop this beat on the PSP on July 17. Stay tuned for a full review in the upcoming weeks.
